Hassle-free, Worry-free Alarm Monitoring

Having an alarm monitored by a professional alarm system monitoring company is one of the best ways a person can bring safety into their home. A competent and reliable alarm monitoring company acts as the eyes and ears on a home when the homeowner is present in the home or anytime they are away from their home.

When families decide to put a home security plan into action, one of the first things that come to mind is the importance of a home security system. While it is true that a home security system alone will act as a phenomenal burglary deterrent, it could offer much more protection just by being monitored by an alarm monitoring company.

Alarm monitoring is a service that is provided by many home alarm companies nowadays. While many of these companies may offer monitoring services, they may not be the ones that will actually be providing the service. Since operating an alarm monitoring company can be a very involved business, and sometimes quite an expensive operation to run, not many companies operate one on their own. Instead, they subcontract their alarm monitoring to other companies that specialize in monitoring alarms.

Some people prefer to have their alarms monitored by the same company that installed their alarm. The thought of a third-party monitoring center handling their alarm signals is not something they feel secure about doing. In the past, there have been horror stories about smaller alarm dealers running their alarms into a third-party alarm monitoring center and not paying the bills for the service.

Eventually, the alarm monitoring center would stop monitoring the alarm system and the customer would never know until they set off their alarm and no one called, or they experienced a home burglary and called to see why nobody took action when their alarm went off. Only then are they informed of the situation.

These instances have taken place, but they should not be a reason to avoid alarm monitoring by third-party monitoring centers. In fact, numerous alarm monitoring companies handle thousands of alarm signals each day. Most of these companies are staffed with professionally trained employees that are not only available 24/7 to handle alarm signals, they are specially trained to handle alarms that require them to use their judgment; especially panic alarms, fire alarms, and other life-safety signals.

Not only do these alarm monitoring centers train their staff to handle alarm signals, they also make sure the center is fully staffed 24/7/365 to ensure that when their customers’ alarms go off, they are there to answer the call. Companies that monitor alarms also need to utilize special equipment, phone lines, and special software to provide the service. If the monitoring company is U.L. Listed, they will need to meet even more strict requirements. This is all done for the safety and security of their customers.

If the thought of alarm monitoring services being provided by a third-party company does not sound appealing, consumers should stick with companies that provide their own monitoring. Many home alarm companies, especially the larger ones like ADT, own and operate several of their own fully redundant alarm monitoring centers.
